200-Hour General Lines 2-20 License

All courses are conducted by the American Association of Insurance and Financial Professionals, Inc. (Provider 363212) DBA Hilda Tucker Insurance School.

Online insurance exam simulations are available through our affiliate Stateprep.com.  All exams are based on PearsonVue state content outlines. Take practice simulated state exams, create your own custom exam, browse individual questions, or use the flash card mode. Subscriptions all for UNLIMITED access during your subscription period!

General Lines/Personal Lines and Life, Health, and Annuity Exam Prep Workbooks and Flash Cards are available in the Stateprep bookstore.

Licensing courses are prerequisites for acquiring a Florida insurance license.

The General Lines 2-20 license is required for selling the following types of insurance: 

Personal Auto, Homeowners, Dwelling, Flood, Personal Liability, Commercial Auto, Property, Commercial Liability, Workers Comp, Crime, Surety, Marine (Ocean and Inland), Aviation, Boiler & Machinery and Health

Licensing Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Resident of the State of Florida
  • United State citizen or legal alien

Prerequisite to applying for license:

  • Complete and pass a 200-hour or *40-hour approved classroom 2-20 course

Applying for license:

  • Complete online application and pay fees
  • Be fingerprinted for required background check
  • Check application status in My Profile

Pass the state exam:

  • Must score 70% or above
  • Print license from account in My Profile

*Eligibility requirement for reduction of classroom hours from 200 to 40 – holding a 20-44 Personal Lines license with at least one (1) year's experience OR one (1) year of responsible insurance duties as a licensed AND appointed customer representative or limited customer representative – The 40-hour General Lines course is an abbreviated version of the 200-hour course and is a crash course in Property and Casualty Insurance.

The 2-20 General Lines 200-hour course is held either weekdays, week nights, or combination. The Jacksonville location schedule is Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5pm-10pm and Saturday, 8am-6pm. Deerfield Beach holds weekday (4 wks) and night (8 wks) classes and Orlando conducts the weekday (4 wk) classes. This is the required certified course to prepare students to take and pass the Florida General Lines 2-20 state exam. To be certified students must pass the class exams with a 70% or more.  Class size is limited to 15 and includes the Property-Casualty Crash Course.

Students are welcomed back to audit the licensing class as a review or the Property-Casualty Crash Course for up to one year, at no additional cost.

Our Exclusive Stateprep "General Lines/Personal Lines Exam Prep Workbook" is used in all of our courses.  This Workbook summarizes the entire State Manual and has hundreds of practice questions that are used for homework and in class testing as well as a practice final exam.  The Workbook must be purchased prior to class by going to our Bookstore

Please note that our class materials and Workbook are protected by and fall within the U.S. Copyright laws.  We do not allow any other study aids from any other school.  Please do not bring any other school's materials to class with you.

General Lines Flash Cards, with over 550 state exam questions on card stock are optionally available in the Bookstore.

Subscriptions to our web-based online Practice Insurance Exams are available by going to Stateprep.comThe subscription allows unlimited access to practice Florida state insurance exams, and many other features.

The latest version of the General Lines and Customer Representative Study Manual must be purchased prior to class and brought to class the first day.  Click here to purchase the study manual.

What to bring to class on the first day?  Most recent version of the state study manual, Stateprep General Lines/Personal Lines Exam Prep Workbook, several highlighters, a notebook or legal pad for taking notes and pencils to use for tests and the final exam. Again, we do not allow materials from other schools be brought into our school.
